The Vibrant Ecosystem of Scholars
The Academy of Management Annual Meeting creates an environment where scholars and practitioners come together to connect and collaborate. One of the key features of the Annual Meeting is its emphasis on the exchange of ideas and the scale. Ultimately, the Academy of Management Annual Meeting is more than just a series of presentations; it is a thriving ecosystem where relationships are forged, ideas are exchanged, and collective knowledge is advanced. This year, it gathered about 12,000 participants, which is a record-breaking number that is not comparable to any other event in our field. By engaging in this lively environment, participants not only enhance their professional journey but also contribute to the ongoing evolution of management as a discipline.
Opportunities at AOM
Participating in the Academy of Management Annual Meeting 2025 provided a unique opportunity to present research outcomes. I had the distinct honor to present my research paper, “When Rival is in Deep Water: Increasing Competitive Actions After Rival’s Misconduct,” on behalf of a phenomenal research team from leading reseach universities in the US. This work explores how firms respond when a competitor faces a public misconduct scandal, balancing the opportunity to gain an edge against the risk of negative spillovers. This was a true team effort, and I am deeply grateful for the collaboration with my brilliant co-authors and mentors: Lingling Pan, University of Pittsburgh; Tianxu Chen, West Virginia University; Wenpin Tsai, The Pennsylvania State University; Jianhong Chen, University of New Hampshire.
A special thank you must go to the Strategic Management Division of AOM. For selecting me for the Junior Faculty Consortium and the STR Teaching Consortium. The sessions were filled with incredibly developmental content, and the guidance from supportive mentors who are leading scholars in the field of strategic management was simply invaluable.
